Flint Jubilee Chorale & Flint Jubilee Gospel Singers
A dynamic new ensemble, the Flint Jubilee Chorale, is now a permanent part of the FIM. The group of 10 was originally brought together by FSPA Voice Department Chair Sylvia Pittman to perform on the FIM’s African American Heritage Month event, Oh Freedom: The Great
Debate.“ Response to these talented vocalists was overwhelmingly positive,” said Pittman. “They just moved the audience.”
As planning for the Music in the Parks summer concerts got underway, the ensemble was top of mind to perform with the FSO on the series opener. So, they have become the nucleus of the Flint Jubilee Singers, a group of 35 to 40, which is now being formed. “It was a natural fit,” said FSO Manager Tom Glasscock. “We knew there would be many other opportunities for such a group, so they’ve become a permanent part of the FIM.”
