Call Boxes
For your convenience, six yellow call boxes are located throughout the building. If you need help carrying an instrument or need public safety personnel, please use these call boxes. They’re here for you!
Student Lounge/Atrium
We offer a beautiful atrium for you and your family to wait in, do homework, read a book or just relax.
Practice Rooms
Music students may use the practice rooms during normal school hours when facilities are available, and when previous arrangements have been made with Public Safety. Public Safety can be reached at 810.237.3116.
Rental Instruments
A limited number of instruments are available for rental by FSPA students. Call the FSPA Office for availability.
Locker Policy
Music and dance students using hallway lockers need to check with Public Safety and purchase their own locks. Public Safety can be reached at 810.237.3116.

Lockers in the dance dressing rooms are reserved for dancers only. Students in the advanced curriculum or members of the Flint Youth Ballet may keep locks on their lockers at all times. All other dancers are encouraged to use the remaining lockers; however, they must carry their locks back and forth from home. They can use the lockers only during class.
Parking
Parking is available in the lot north of Sloan Museum. For convenience and safety, a lighted sidewalk connects the lot with the northeast entrance of the Flint Institute of Music. Parents picking up students should also use the Sloan Museum parking lot, not Manning Street.

For the Creative Arts Preschool, please use the circle drive off of Crapo Street for pick up and drop off.
Evaluation
Music class students receive teacher observation forms at the end of each semester.

Private lesson and ensemble students may request a written evaluation at any time.

Dance students enrolled in Ballet and Modern classes receive student outcome forms at the end of each eight-week term.

Creative Dance, Pre-Ballet and Elementary Ballet I students receive student outcome forms at the end of the second and fourth terms only.

Parents are encouraged to observe dance classes the last week of each term.
